The lava lamb is a tamable monster in Godville.
Description
The lava lamb is a young sheep who came straight from a volcano. At least that’s the story a young hero came up with and he has no intention of changing it any time soon.
Loot
No amount of curiosity will kill a lava lamb like it would cats, but this characteristic gives it a frequent tendency to get lost. When the lost lamb finds it’s way back to its companion hero or heroine, it will usually have some treasure hidden (probably caught and stuck) within its fluffy, molten wool. Frequent brushing is recommended, specially on days when gold and beer money is running low. On the battle field when it encounters a brash young hero or heroine, it’s wool is it’s best armor as it can deflect any form of damage or harm thrown at it. Stick and stones won’t hurt the monster but consider any artifact, gold, treasure and beer lost once it gets sucked into the twilight zone of fluff.
over time, the little lava lamb grew to enjoy acquiring artifacts and loot in any form possible. It eventually became a loot magnet and radar. It’s keen senses will alert it to nearby lost wallets, buried treasure, artifacts hidden behind bushes for whatever reason imaginable, even those that are hidden in dark and dangerous dungeons. It’s the ideal traveling companion for any hero/ine!
Diary Entries
09:16 AM Xiao leaned into the bushes for a moment and threw an out-of-time machine at me.
11:07 AM Xiao pried an octopus ink pen out of somewhere.
11:39 AM Xiao dug up someone's wallet, making me 289 gold coins richer.
11:46 AM Xiao could find anything in a haystack, even a mustard cutter.
Taming
One look at those big round eyes is enough to melt any heart. Literally! Any prolonged staring and the rest of any creature’s life is as good as gone. The unfortunate hero that finds it must take precautionary measures to avoid melting. Perhaps covering himself with a wet blanket and having lots of buckets of water in hand will do.
To tame it, the hero must freeze his heart to protect it from melting. A steel resolution (and thick skin) is vital to be able to accept the fact that molten nights of scalding cuddles will be more frequent in the future. A small price to pay considering it’s nothing compared to the frequent thunder strikes experienced from his angry deity. At least his pet loves him.
Strengths
- Strong. It may seem like a weak little lamb but be wary of offending it or you will get a head butt that will send any seasoned hero flying in the air (and maybe even straight into a pot of boiling stew).
- Fluffy. Fluff that’s thick enough to deflect every attack. Artifacts thrown at it will get lost.
- Captivating eyes. Has the same effect as puppy dog eyes. No one can resist it.
Weaknesses
- Fire extinguishers.
- Steely hearts.
- Bed time. Jumping over a sleepless hero to put him to sleep can be very tiring.
- Fluffy. It’s thick fur is both a blessing and a curse.
