Trading
- This page is about the shops of NPCs (non-player characters). For the heroines' shops, see Shop. For the process of saving gold, see Retirement.
Trading is the process of converting the artifacts a heroine has collected into precious beer tokens.
Trading in towns
Trading in town is part of the Golden Cycle. The heroine will usually start trading only when they have fully healed.
- Selling artifacts (and usually buying healing artifacts and redeeming newspaper coupons)
- Buying gold bricks (during the Pre-Temple chapter), equipment and/or skill upgrades
They will then, proceed to the tavern.
Roadside trading
Roadside traders will be encountered by heroines from time-to-time in their travels, unless the daily forecast has made the roadside traders go on strike, meaning they will not appear at all. A Deity will also occasionally have the opportunity to send divine signs to push their heroine to a roadside trader, if they're considering it.
Roadside trading has several important differences to trading in a town:
- No other phases besides trading will occur (i.e., no resting phase before trading, no praying phase after trading, etc.)
- Boss parts are not sold, nor deposited in the lab
- Wanted monster proofs are not sold, nor turned in for a reward
Heroines can be idly stuck chatting with the trader enough time for a wandering master to get the heroine's hard-earned gold coins on a measly skill upgrade.
