Description Anchors Adorning Arms! Story at 11:00.

The Anchor tattoo is arm equipment. Many heroines missed the boat on this trend when it first appeared, so they decided to make their own. Anchor tattoos: Carry your favorite celebrity with you everywhere to fend off monsters!

Say What?!

For many years, "Mom" and other images have warded seafaring folk against harm, lovingly emblazoned on their biceps. Knowing themselves to each be destined to also sail the briny blue, heroes and heroines decided to carry on the tradition.

Whether their own twist on it was intentional or not on purpose is up for debate.

It's easy to imagine what happened. Some heroine consulted an armorer on her next equipment purchase, which she really thought should be some sort of metal-infused design for her arms. Like a tattoo, really. But what sort of tattoo was a good option for a future sailor such as herself? The armorer, a little out of his depth, vaguely suggested, "An anchor...?"

The heroine went away to consider. An anchor. Hmm. Yes. That sounded good. But which one? There were so many! News@11? Nah, he had ridiculous hair. Or maybe Channel 6 On Report's cast. But only if getting two anchors wouldn't cost more. Not the Weather Channel's meteorologist, though; getting a weather girl tattoo would be passe, and she never got thunderstorms predicted correctly anyway. Ooh! How about...?

The next day, the heroine went back to the armorer and announced her decision. "I want anchor tattoos of that guy on 4 O'Clock News."

"I'm... sorry?" asked the confused armorer.

"Well, he's the handsomest one," explained the heroine. "Plus, that smile? He's got way too many teeth-- that's sure to scare off monsters!"

Later that evening, the heroine showed off her anchor tattoos at the tavern, and suddenly all the heroes and heroines wanted one.

Public Service Announcement

The proprietors of Sword & Sandal franchises would like to remind all wearers of anchor tattoos to not share their opinions about anyone else's choice of anchor. "Whether celebrity Mermelly Orcah Grintree is an anchor or not" will no longer be accepted at any of their establishments as a valid reason for starting an impromptu "floor show."

Care and Maintenance

Beyond allowing the initial application to heal and not picking at the wound, no care regimen is recommended. Some heroes and heroines apply nightly vitamin E oil to the whole design to keep it supple. Ultra devotees apply pancake make-up to their anchors daily, to keep them bright, fresh, and camera-ready.
