Documentation questions

  1. What are the options for |space=?
  2. I can deduce that |width= takes the usual px, em, %, etc, but this is probably worth making explicit.
  3. In my view, the rendering of
Fourth line, multiple spaces collapsed into one as in HTML and wikitext.
    doesn't match the description.

I'm also not sure about the floating h in the middle of the Usage section, it appears to have been intended as an example of the use of |width=10px but it isn't clear. --Djonni (talk) 13:52, 31 October 2018 (UTC)

This was all a straight cut-and-paste from wikipedia:Template:Pre, including the docs, and indeed all of the issues you raise equally apply over there. I'd say, anything that can be improved, go for it. As far as #3, agreed, changes to the default styling / skin CSS seem to have invalidated that part of the documentation's claims. Same is true at the source.
Discussion on wikipedia:Template talk:Pre seems to indicate that people prefer the implementation of their Template:Pre2, it might be worth just replacing our {{Pre}} with that. -- FeRDNYC (talk) 04:44, 1 November 2018 (UTC)
As far as |space=, the argument is handed to the CSS white-space property, overriding the default pre-wrap, so it'd take any valid value for white-space. -- FeRDNYC (talk) 04:49, 1 November 2018 (UTC)
Could you cast an eye over the updated Template:Pre/Documentation and do a quick fact/sanity check for me when you've a moment?
I'll leave it to you whether we keep this or use Pre2. This template isn't yet in use anywhere except its own docs and talk. --Djonni (talk) 07:05, 1 November 2018 (UTC)
