Suggestion re: Description

One minor suggestion regarding the infobox content: As I wrote regarding the Beer-battered beer article (but for different reasons), the text currently set as the |description= parameter might work better as a |caption= for the image. (|caption= wasn't listed in the parameter documentation for the infoboxes until very recently, which was my oversight... but it's there now. Basically it'll be placed right beneath the image, if it's set.)

The |description= parameter, at least ideally, should describe the monster, concisely, from an external perspective. It doesn't have to be a strictly physical description (though it can be), but just a few words showing how someone would sum up their "whole deal"... if that makes any sense? For the Godbuster, perhaps something like one of:

...etc. might work? -- FeRDNYC (talk) 22:47, 23 January 2019 (UTC)

Thanks for the infobox information FeRDNYC, will try to apply it on case it fit better than description (or alongside one). As for the curent article : The only reason for the actual description is because its one of the few references to Ghosbuster I included in the article (alongside the creation of the group in 1984 -> release of movie ; and obviously the motto referencing the song and the crossing the streams in the attribute) aaaaand... I didn't knew where to put it.
I agree it's not a description but since we have often a writed description paragraph, I thought it would be redundant but I also see your point (and your description idea is not bad at all I admit!).
Piaf : Actually made the changes. Stolen your description! WardPhoenix (talk) 00:54, 24 January 2019 (UTC)

Do you want me to stop editing this article while you work on it, WardPhoenix? -- SourceRunner (talk) 03:28, 24 January 2019 (UTC)
It was just the infobox contents who got upgraded thanks to FeRDNYC insight. I was just bold and did the changes immediately while it was still fresh on my mind. WardPhoenix (talk) 09:59, 24 January 2019 (UTC)

Formatting g.e. dates

I noticed in both  WardPhoenix 's writing and  SourceRunner 's editing that this article makes excellent use of g.e. dates. (Why this article in particular, I have no idea, but it happened to strike me while reading it.) I also noticed the edits regarding formatting of those dates, which led me to two conclusions:

  1. The dates should really be connected to the following "g.e." by a non-breaking space, so they won't be broken up by line-wrapping.
  2. That's something that should really be handled automatically by a template.

My initial idea was to just change template {{ge}} so it would add "g.e." to the end of the output, but it's used all over the wiki in places where it's expected not to do that, and it would be a massive pain to change them all.

Instead I hacked up a new template {{date ge}} — it works like {{ge}} in many ways, except it always appends " g.e." to its output, and {{date ge|number}} outputs "number g.e.".

So, as the documentation illustrates:

[[Godville (game)|Godville]] was born on {{date ge|ge=1}}! appears as:
Godville was born on 1 g.e.!
The 5th of August 2013 was {{date ge|1183}} appears as:
The 5th of August 2013 was 1183 g.e.
The 15th of December 2011 was {{date ge|12|15|2011}} appears as:
The 15th of December 2011 was 621 g.e.
[[JanuWiki 2019]] started on 3158{{date ge}} and ran for one month. appears as:
JanuWiki 2019 started on 3158 g.e. and ran for one month.

TL;DR: Basically,

  1. Anywhere you're writing "number g.e.", you can instead use {{date ge|number}} and the date will be formatted properly to protect against line wrapping.
  2. Anywhere you're writing "{{ge|mm|dd|yyyy}} g.e." can become "{{date ge|mm|dd|yyyy}}" to take advantage of the same protection.

Before:

Written on 3181
g.e.

After:

Written on
3181 g.e.

I'll announce {{date ge}} at Talk:Main Page as well, but I wanted to mention it here since this article inspired it. -- FeRDNYC (talk) 17:17, 24 January 2019 (UTC)

Oh! That's going to be really useful! Thank you for making those, FeRDNYC. Will try to get used to using those templates. --SourceRunner (talk) 14:33, 31 January 2019 (UTC)
