Milestone.jpg

Milestones are mysterious objects not necessarily made out of stone. They litter the landscape between towns and seem to attract Monsters through unknown undoubtedly magical means. Measurements show them to be evenly spaced and always exactly one mile between each other or a town. This has lead to the widely accepted theory that explains their purpose as navigation aids from times of old. Heroes frequently come across them in their Quests and so the heroes use the number of milestones they have passed since leaving a certain town as a guide to the distance they have since travelled.

Conventional Navigation

All heroes commonly use milestones as their coordinate system with the origin being Godville since it is the capital city of the world. Therefore this town represents 0 milestones in the system. Other towns are located at a certain number of milestones and this is shown in the 'data' section of the article on a town. All towns are always at the same milestone as it has been proven time and time again by careful observation. Below is a list of the towns for which their location in milestones is confirmed.

Heroes travel at the constant speed of 1 milestone per minute. A mile per minute is equal to 26.8 metres per second. This seems extremely fast but is probably due to the warped perception of time that Gods have. Heroes are usually slower than this anyway because they get slowed down while questing from having to fight monsters and do the other silly things they like to. It is possible to speed heroes up though, for example, by using a Portable Tunnel or a Pet with the 'riding' feature, but most significantly, by use of Transportational skills.
