Hi! So I've been editing my Userpage these past few days trying to get the layout right. I've been using <code>display: flex;</code> and I've had no luck with it. So I finally decided to use the Inspect on Chrome and it showed me [https://prnt.sc/zjsnwe this]. There's a weird <code>div</code> right after the table that is the Infobox. I tried to set its display to <code>none</code> via DevTools to see if I would achieve the layout that I wanted and [https://prnt.sc/zjt707 it did].

So I then checked the Infobox template here in GodWiki and the <code>div</code> also shows up. [https://prnt.sc/zjsxlp (Screenshot)] I think it's wrapped that's why it's on the left side here. And my attempts to use <code>display: flex</code> in my Userpage seems to have stopped it from wrapping.

Then I checked the Infobox template on Wikipedia and the mysterious <code>div</code> isn't present. [https://prnt.sc/zjssf6 (Screenshot)]

After checking the code in the Infobox template and checking other templates used in Infobox, it seems to be [[Template:Spacer| this]].

I'm just wondering if there's a way to remove it or edit it on my page without breaking the rest of the site. I'm not really that well-versed in wikicode yet and I'd appreciate any assistance regarding this. -- [[User:Zoombie|Zoombie]] ([[User talk:Zoombie|talk]]) 04:35, 15 February 2021 (UTC)

: Sorry late reply (there isnt enough hours in a day lately!). Haven't taken a proper look at your issue, but i'm still putting a message as both a mental note and to not worry you about having left a message in a bottle 😅.

: Though, the infobox is quite old and I never really worked on it itself, but there would be nothing wrong at just testing if removing that div do miracles. At worst, we can just undo the edit and no harms will be done.

: Or even better, you could put the whole infobox code into a sandbox, remove the div from it and use it as template to compare. -- [[User:WardPhoenix|WardPhoenix]] ([[User talk:WardPhoenix|talk]]) 22:38, 15 February 2021 (UTC)

:: Thanks! I haven't thought about putting it in a sandbox and using it as a template. I'll try that and test stuff in the next few days and share the results for everyone to see. I'm starting to think I'm gonna end up opening a can of worms with all my poking with the layout 😅. -- [[User:Zoombie|Zoombie]] ([[User talk:Zoombie|talk]]) 04:46, 16 February 2021 (UTC)

::: Yay! It's fun when cans of worms get opened. Things happen ;)  --[[User:His portliness|His portliness]] ([[User talk:His portliness|talk]]) 07:04, 16 February 2021 (UTC)

{{outdent|:::}} Found a lead on my problem here: [[Talk:Main_Page/Archive#Fixes_for_mobile_content_layout]] So there is a way to remove the <code><nowiki>{{spacer}}</nowiki></code> but I haven't found out where to put it. Tried putting <code>|spacer=no</code> on the  Usergod arguments but no luck so far. Anyone has thoughts about this? Am I doing it wrong? Worst case scenario, I'll just forego using templates and hard code everything on my Userpage. Haha. -- [[User:Zoombie|Zoombie]] ([[User talk:Zoombie|talk]]) 08:37, 16 February 2021 (UTC)

:: I think I found a solution to my problem. Details on my userpage under the "What does <nowiki>{{Spacer}}</nowiki> do?" collapsible for anyone interested. Basically, I'll have to replace instances of <nowiki>{{Spacer}}</nowiki> with <nowiki>{{Clear}}</nowiki> on the Infobox template. If my hunch is correct, this change should not have any visible effect and shouldn't break anything. Just in case, I'm leaving this message here so everyone who reads this will know what happened. I'll also be posting in the forums for people to check if any of the Usergod/Infobox in their pages break. Especially on mobile. (From what I gathered, the <nowiki>{{Spacer}}</nowiki> fix was implemented to solve a layout problem that's happening on mobile.) If someone does report something getting broken in the next few days, then I will revert the change and just hard-code stuff on my page (which I'm kind of already doing anyway 😅) Otherwise, I'll consider this solved. -- [[User:Zoombie|Zoombie]] ([[User talk:Zoombie|talk]]) 08:12, 17 February 2021 (UTC)

:: Reverted Infobox template to previous state. My idea broke stuff on desktop. Guess I'll just have to make my own box instead of using the Usergod template. -- [[User:Zoombie|Zoombie]] ([[User talk:Zoombie|talk]]) 11:56, 17 February 2021 (UTC)

:: Finally managed to fix it with [https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Recommendations_for_mobile_friendly_articles_on_Wikimedia_wikis#Do_not_wrap_infoboxes this]. There is also plenty of information in the link for best practices on making articles mobile friendly. It's worth a read. 😀 -- [[User:Zoombie|Zoombie]] ([[User talk:Zoombie|talk]]) 14:28, 17 February 2021 (UTC)

On this page you can request editing assistance from other wiki users who have volunteered to assist. (Stressed as such because none of the volunteers are obligated in any way. So, please be polite and be appreciative!)

Instructions: Click or tap "Edit" next to either of the next two sections, enter your help request, and "Save changes" to submit.

  • Just add your own request, please. Don't remove any other text that's already there!
  • Link to the article you'd like help with, so we know where to look.
  • You can just give the name, if you don't know how to create a link.
  • If possible, also briefly describe what you'd like us to help with.

Someone will take a look, and do what they can to assist.
