Guilds in Godville are different than the ones we have seen in other games. No one owns a guild, not even the founders of the guilds in this game. No one has the power to kick out nor invite anyone. It is a place where heroes gather together. However, heroes have a very limited interaction with each other in guilds, usually through forums.

Guilds have three main properties: Alignment, Unity and Gold fund. They may also have mottoes, emblems and a forum thread.

Guilds have a ranking system; the pantheon of unity. The higher the rank they have here, the more benefits the guild members have.

List of Guilds

To join a guild send a Voice of god message saying 'join *guild name* guild'. If successful the hero will embark on a quest to join the chosen guild but choose wisely because the quest usually takes several days. If the guild name chosen does not exist at the moment then when the hero completes the guild joining quest, he will be the first member of the new guild. Sometimes the hero may randomly decide to start a quest to join a new guild. This can be cancelled by sending a message to him saying 'cancel quest'.

While member of a guild, a hero receives many benefits which include:

  • Access to guild's private doctors -faster healing
  • Random free gifts (ie. Artifacts or gold) from establishments owned by the guild or other guild members
  • Special discounts -cheaper equipment

Guilds have special internal ranking systems within. The benefits increase with rank. When a hero first joins a guild they start at the bottom and increase in rank by being a member of the guild for a certain amount of time. If a hero leaves the guild and rejoins it after, they will have to start from the bottom again so loyalty is recommendatory. The ranking system can be seen below starting from the left:

Influence in Towns

Guilds may hold a certain percentage of influence in a certain town. The higher the influence in a certain town, the more benefits a member of the guild will have access to in the town. The best way to raise your guild's ownership influence of a Town is by influencing your hero by encouragement or punishment. You will know that the influence in the town has increased when one of the following diary entries are displayed:

Suddenly found a halo above my head. Seized the opportunity and ran to the city square to do some preaching. My guild is going to get more influence here.
Suddenly, news about a golden calf grazing near the town spread around Godville. Almighty, is that your handiwork? I took the opportunity and declared him to be a sacred symbol of the “*********” guild.
I was trying to spread the word at Godville's main square, informing the people about my guild, when suddenly thunder struck and amplified my voice a hundredfold. People there are going to remember the “*****” guild for a long time
