Fill out the words in the [[Template:Skill|Skill Template]]. This gives a reader the important information in a concise manner. It should also reduce your writing time.

You can copy and paste this code into your article and fill the blank with your content:

===Step 2: Add a Picture===
 +

 +
Add a picture of the skill (''In Template'').  If you cannot add a picture, leave it blank. A default image will be used, and the {{tlx|picture}} template will automatically be shown at the top of the article to mark it as requiring an image.

 +
=== Step 3: Write an Introductory Sentence ===
 +
Write the first sentence using this format: "The '''name of the skill in bold font''' is a <nowiki>[[type of skill]]</nowiki> that <insert remainder of sentence here>.  Here is an example: "The '''Generic Skill ''' is a [[combat skill]] that can destroy everything, or so it is told."

Displaying a Skill infobox in your article (by placing {{tlx|Skill}} at the top of the page, with additional arguments) presents a structured format for most of the common information regarding Skills, and automatically takes care of the proper categorization for your article. Instructions and an example can be found at the [[Template:Skill]] page.

Starting with a brief summary sentence provides the reader with a quick piece of information. For further examples of first sentences, see any wikipedia article.

Give background information about the skill, such as how it is performed and how powerful (or not) it is.  Also, mention how the legends or stories about it and how the heroes may use it.

# Create a title.  The title should be the name of the skill.  Use sentence capitalization. In other words: "First word capital letter with the rest lower case."  For example: [[Foot massage]], [[Bad breath]], and [[Clinical strike]].  DO NOT USE YOUR SUPERHERO PAGE AS THE CAPITALIZATION AUTHORITY because skills capitalization varies by superhero page.<ref>For example, the skill [[Palm of the panda]] is capitalized at least three different ways: (1) <u>'''P'''</u>alm of the <u>'''p'''</u>anda {{God|Delirium|temple=07/04/2011 13:41}},  (2) <u>'''p'''</u>alm of the <u>'''P'''</u>anda {{God|Maledar|temple=07/07/2012 13:55}}, and <u>'''p'''</u>alm of the <u>'''p'''</u>anda {{God|CeNedra}}. Skill capitalization inconsistency is common across Godville.  For a broader picture, conduct an internet search for "Godville <skill>" to see the differences or [https://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=godville+%22Cri+de+coeur%22 click this example for Cri de coeur.]</ref>

# Add a picture of the skill either in action or one of its effects. (If you can't, add "'''<nowiki>{{picture}}</nowiki>'''" at the top of the page to mark it as requiring an image.)

# Indicate what type of skill it is by saying "'''Type: '''" followed by either [[:Category:Combat skills|Combat skill]], [[:Category:Trade skills|Trade skill]] or [[:Category:Transportation skills|Transportation skill]]. (Make sure that the word "Type" and the first letter of the skill name are capitalized.)

# Now, provide some general information about the skill (at least three or four sentences), such as when it is used, what general effect it may have, and how hard it is for the hero to master. If you want you may also provide instructions about how to use the skill.

# Give an idea about what effect each level may have, with level bands of 1-5, 6-10, 10-20, and 21+. This is completely made up so you can be as creative as you like, just so long as each "level" is more devious/powerful/painful/effective. Label the section "'''Effects'''" (level 2 header), and for each subsection, make sure you use a level 3 headline; for example: "'''<nowiki>===Level 1-5===</nowiki>'''".

# After you have done as much of the above as possible, categorise your article by adding "'''<nowiki>[[Category:Skills]]</nowiki>'''" ''and'' "'''<nowiki>[[Category:Combat skills]]", "[[Category:Trade skills]]", or "[[Category:Transportation skills]]"</nowiki>''' at the end.

For more overall recommandations and tools about how to write an article, see Creators Manual.

Please follow these guidelines for writing a skill article. This will help to keep the wiki clean and consistent. Feel free to be as elaborate or as concise as you want.

IMPORTANT: Use the {{Skill}} template. This will make the article look nicer and will automatically categorize it as an skill article.

For complete info on how the {{Skill}} template can be used, read the documentation at Template:Skill.

Structure for writing a skill article

Step 1: Use the {{Skill}} template

Fill out the words in the Skill Template. This gives a reader the important information in a concise manner. It should also reduce your writing time.

You can copy and paste this code into your article and fill the blank with your content:

{{skill
| image =
| caption =
| type =
| description =
}}

Step 2: Add a Picture

Add a picture of the skill (In Template). If you cannot add a picture, leave it blank. A default image will be used, and the {{picture}} template will automatically be shown at the top of the article to mark it as requiring an image.

Step 3: Write an Introductory Sentence

Write the first sentence using this format: "The name of the skill in bold font is a [[type of skill]] that <insert remainder of sentence here>. Here is an example: "The Generic Skill is a combat skill that can destroy everything, or so it is told."

Starting with a brief summary sentence provides the reader with a quick piece of information. For further examples of first sentences, see any wikipedia article.

Step 4: Write the Substance

Give background information about the skill, such as how it is performed and how powerful (or not) it is. Also, mention how the legends or stories about it and how the heroes may use it.

Step 5: Add a See Also, if Applicable

Add a "See Also" section if there are other wiki articles that contain similar or relation information.

Note: If you cannot fill all of the necessary points of information, mark the article as a stub so other people can fill it in. Place "{{stub}}" in the first line of an article to flag it accordingly.
