The Ballpoint Penguin (Biro pinguis) is a tameable monster said to be mightier than the swordfish.

They have flippers instead of wings like most birds, so they cannot fly. On land, they waddle instead of walking, but are mostly able to maintain the pace of your hero or heroine. They walk upright, though when snow conditions are right, they will slide on their bellies.

They are known to squirt ink into an attacker's eyes as a defence mechanism. As an offence mechanism, it has been known to forge famous hero’s signatures onto checks.

They can be one of your hero's first pets. The ballpoint penguin does not hibernate, but as your hero goes to bars, it tends to stay alongside to ensure it can eat and drink at every opportunity — to store fat reserves for later.

  • Can overwhelm higher-level monsters with its forgeries
  • Will be popular enough to be found by your hero fairly quickly
  • Will once in a very great while decide to write an inspirational note to your hero
  • Can restore full health to hero
  • Able to yawn to put monsters to sleep, allowing heroes to finish them off
  • Very brave
  • One of its attacks is used to generate a somewhat strong static electricity attack, or roar loudly
  • Has been known to bring legendary random artifacts.
  • At times will point your hero in the right direction.
  • Has been known to occasionally bring healing items to the hero, before usually eating them with great pride. (the item, not the hero)
  • They have been known to physically heal their owner.
  • Have been known to sacrifice themselves to save the lives of their master.

  • Runs out of ink after awhile of pooping*
  • Likes to eat and sleep as much as your heroine
  • Will occasionally eat items out of your heroine’s pack
  • Doesn't know how to swim very well

18:28 Pumba suddenly raised his muzzle and roared. The Peripheral Terror and its fellows dispersed, shrieking with fear.

!Hero's Diary
03:23 AM As the air crackled with energy, my purse jerked and lightened. Pumba coughed and abruptly yakked up an enormous hairball. Gleaming through the grey mess was a perfect golden brick! Pumba belched contentedly and sat down to groom himself.

!Hero's Diary
20:14 Aware of the health benefits he offers, Pumba carefully rubbed against me with his soft fur.

12:38 PM The Godville Administrator raised its hand for a deadly final strike against me when Pilot suddenly threw himself under its feet. The monster stumbled and fell dead on the ground, its neck broken. The pilot was knocked out by the impact of the monster's carcass. Oh, my Lord, if I don't bring him back to his senses in time, he'll lose all his levels and his will to compete!

21:17 Fang used his “puppy eyes” skill against the Hairy Potter. The Hairy Potter turned mushy, gave me an activated activatable artifact as a toy for him, and 149 coins to buy some better ballpoint penguin food.
