Description A quick talking prince from another land

The Ligerian Prince (Princeps ligeriaum) is a monster that is highly skilled in the art of investment, but lacking combat skills.

Physical encounters between heroes and Ligerian Princes have become exceedingly rare in modern times. Ligerian Princes lack even the most rudimentary combat skills and try to avoid physically confronting heroes at all costs. If the two do meet, it is usually outside a town and ends with the hero defeating the Prince. Following a battle, heroes usually find only a handful of gold coins in the monster's loot bag.

The vast majority of interaction between heroes and Ligerian Princes occur through correspondence. Often times, heroes will return to their temple to find a letter from the Ligerian Prince seeking assistance in smuggling gold bricks out of his country. If a hero sends him a certain number of gold coins for shipping, the Prince will ship the gold bricks to the hero and allow the hero to keep enough of the gold bricks to finish his temple.

A Typical Letter from a Ligerian Prince would read as follows:

Honorable <hero's name>

<XXXX Hero's temple Street>

Godville, Godville <region of town code>

Dear Honorable <hero's name>,

I have been requested by the Ligerian National Petroleum Company to contact you for assistance in resolving a matter. The Ligerian National Petroleum Company has recently concluded a large number of contracts for oil exploration in the sub-Godville region. The contracts have immediately produced 50,000,000 gold bricks. The Ligerian National Petroleum Company is desirous of oil exploration in other parts of the world, however, because of certain regulations of the Ligerian Government, it is unable to move these funds to another region.

You assistance is requested as a non-Ligerian citizen to assist the Ligerian National Petroleum Company, and also the Central Bank of Ligeria, in moving these funds out of Ligeria. If the funds can be transferred to your name, to your Godville National Bank account, then you can forward the funds as directed by the Ligerian National Petroleum Company. In exchange for your accommodating services, the Ligerian National Petroleum Company would agree to allow you to retain enough gold bricks to finish your temple.

However, to be a legitimate transferee of these moneys according to Ligerian law, you must presently send XXXX gold coins to me to cover shipping expenses.

Please call me at your earliest convenience at 18-467-4975. Time is of the essence in this matter; very quickly, the Ligerian Government will realize that the Central Bank is maintaining this amount on deposit, and attempt to levy certain depository taxes on it.

Yours truly,

Prince Alyusi Islassis

The hero may immediately send the coins for shipping or may need time to save up the coins. Depending on the situation, the hero may travel to a different town to send the coins. Accordingly, diary entries about sending gold coins may appear at anytime.

On occasion, an encourage may cause a Ligerian Prince to return a few coins to the hero.

!Hero's Diary
A beam of light fell and struck a frog that was sitting next to me. It suddenly transformed into a man who claimed to be a Ligerian [P]rince who had been cursed. He gave me 168 coins and said that he was off to repay all those he had scammed.
