Dragon egg incubators are hard to come by in Godville since hardly anyone is foolish enough to try and hand rear a dragon, hence they are worth their weight in gold.
Since they are hard to acquire, nobody is quite sure of how they work but it is theorised to be something to do with a chicken and a lot of coal.
If a hero tries to incubate a dragon egg, their god probably should warn them that dragons don't take kindly to heroes that kidnap their children-to-be, which is another reason for the increasing rarity of this artifact.
