One of the best times to resurrect a pet is to complete a quest and have your hero enter godville with his health bar in the red. The reason this is advantageous is because with quest complete and the health bar in red, when your hero travels to godville (and you can dig all the way home for more gold) he will sell items, heal, ''skip wasting money'', and pray. Ostensibly, the ''skip wasting money'' is the significant part. Hopefully when he prays is when he will spend the gold and resurrect the pet.

Sometimes your hero’s health bar will not be in the red when he completes the quest so an option is to punish until his health is in the red. I would wait to do this right before you enter godville because if you do this too soon your hero might encounter several things as he is traveling back (like falling into someones trap and being badly injured, the infamous arrow, or shooting star) which will decrease his health and possibly kill him which would cause you to lose all your hard earned coins. ''This can also be risky because a god’s influence could possibly melt 3000 coins into a brick!'' Depending on how much health your hero has usually one or two punishes will put them in the red. If you're going to try this remember:  punishes could also result in a melt so fair warning. Therefore, if you want to go this route make sure you have enough gold coins in case a melt happens.

Also, here's a tip for trying to speed up quest completion.  You can send the vc "complete quest faster".  If your hero/ine listens you will receive a message like this:  03:55 So that's how you [quest name]! Thanks for the help, Wisest One!  This will give you 5% on your quest completion percentage.  You can do this several times and I usually recommend starting this at about 85% if your hp is getting close to red.

Yes, you can send your hero back to the same town provided he is still in the milestone range.  I will do this if there is a town that requires more influencing for my guild or if I want to return to Tradeburg more than once since items sell for more there (or for those of you that are still trying to accumulate bricks they can be bought for less than 3K at Tradeburg).  The method is still the same.  You just need to start at the beginning of the range for the town so that when your hero leaves the town you sent him to and returns to the milestone where he listened to your command, you still have enough milestones to use the vc again to send him back to the same town.

Please pardon my mess. This is a work in progress!  :-)

These are some of the responses to several of the questions that I have been asked before. I thought if I put them all here in one place many people could possibly benefit. I hope you find this information helpful! Please feel free to let me know if you feel anything needs to be added or modified. I consider this a work in progress and am open to hearing about your ideas. One note, I noticed that I'm not consistent with using "hero/ine" in order to be inclusive so I apologize if I've used "hero" more often because my character is a hero.

I welcome any comments or feedback!

Pet Resurrection[1]

The question of resurrecting a pet is posed quite often given our pet’s proclivities to suddenly die. Given that I’ve decided to resurrect my hero’s pet here are the steps (and missteps) I went through to save Stitch from an untimely demise.

Getting Started

You have 60 hours to resurrect[2] but I’ve always started as soon as possible.

So, the first thing is to see how much gold you’ll need. You need about 450 gold coins per level normally and 500 gold coins per level on the high end. Stitch is level 15 so I would need around 7500 gold coins since 15 X 500 = 7500.

Here's a chart to show what the first 30 levels at 450 are:

Level Approx. Amt. (level X 450) Level Approx. Amt. (level X 450)
1 450 16 7200
2 900 17 7650
3 1350 18 8100
4 1800 19 8550
5 2250 20 9000
6 2700 21 9450
7 3150 22 9900
8 3600 23 10350
9 4050 24 10800
10 4500 25 11250
11 4950 26 11700
12 5400 27 12150
13 5850 28 12600
14 6300 29 13050
15 6750 30 13500

Quest Completion Method

One of the best times to resurrect a pet is to complete a quest and have your hero enter Godville with his health bar in the red. The reason this is advantageous is because with quest complete and the health bar in red, when your hero travels to Godville (and you can dig all the way home for more gold) he will sell items, heal, skip wasting money, and pray. Ostensibly, the skip wasting money is the significant part.

This can also be risky because a god’s influence could possibly melt 3000 coins into a brick! Depending on how much health your hero has usually one or two punishes will put them in the red.

Arena Method

My quest was no where close to completion so I chose the “gather enough coins and send to arena” route. The reason this works is because after your hero leaves arena he will not waste any money. Please note: this is very risky. If you win in arena, great! If you lose, you lose all your gold coins.

The first time I had to resurrect I did this and was lucky to be paired with an inactive player. My hero won the duel, prayed, and resurrected Stitch. Because today my quest was only at about 50% I decided to try the arena route again. I accumulated about 9K coins and sent my hero to arena thinking even if I dueled with an active player, I could send some encourages and win the duel. I ended up being paired with a player that had close to 600 duels (a majority of them wins) under his belt. My hero was slaughtered and lost his coins.

Generic Method

Ok so what now? Well, now you can accumulate enough coins and send your hero to town, hope that he doesn’t waste all his money and has enough for a resurrection, and hope that he resurrects. Since the hero will waste money I wanted to accumulate more than enough coins so that when he does waste it there might be enough left over for a resurrection.

I start digging for coins and items to sell to try to get enough coins again. I accumulate about 12K coins and send my hero back to town with the vc “go to town”. Hopefully with 12K coins and several bold items in the inventory to sell when my hero wastes money there will be enough left over for a resurrection.

My hero hits town and after he heals he starts selling inventory. After selling inventory he has about 15K coins. Now you wait and hope because after selling the hero will buy, waste money, and then pray.

Luckily he doesn’t buy anything.

He wastes some money: 08:15 Had a hot date last night, or at least I think I did. I can’t remember a thing, but 3772 gold coins are missing from my wallet, so it must have been pretty awesome! (thank goodness I wasn’t at los adminos. my previous posts have shown how much money my hero has wasted there). Ok, so I did collect enough for him to waste and still hope for a resurrection since he still has around 11K left.

He goes to pray. And I wait. Four excruciating minutes later:

08:19 Desperately praying and sacrificing, I made a small miracle and resurrected my pet. Stitch, I’m so glad to see you!

This time wasn’t as easy as before but Stitch is resurrected!

No matter what how good a player is, if they have a pet it could need resurrection. That’s why I typed all this. Hope this helps!

debatable pet theories

DISCLAIMER!!! these are completely up for debate and have been unsubstantiated by me....these are just musings. and this section needs to be cleaned up.

one is that I want to believe that the encourages that say "06:05 Something good and fragrant poured from the sky over my pet. Stitch is smiling happily." somehow helps keep my pet alive/increase it's level points...but that I'm not sure of. I haven't make the time to see if I'm going up in the taming pantheon when I get that message...I suppose I should start paying more attention to that. but that's one thing I want to believe in.

Another is that I can keep my pet alive by keeping my hero healthy and not needing my pet to come in and save his life...this is how I believe that this plays out... I like to have some health inventory items before I go to bed. the reason for this is because both my pet deaths (and it seems from the messages from other people's pet deaths) involved my pet sacrificing itself to save my hero from a monster....I have this theory that if I can manage to keep my hero healthy and/or he has health items to fall back on, his pet won't have to sacrifice himself to prevent my hero from dying.

Traveling Tips

I use the "go to town" command quite often. This command will send your hero back to the town he has just passed. To my knowledge you cannot send your hero forward. This command sends your hero backwards. This can be beneficial for several reasons.

  • if your hero is low on health and your inventory is close to being full you can send to town to heal and to sell for coins and hopefully a melt
  • if you want to avoid certain towns and/or want to hit others

Basics

First things first. You have to know what milestones each town is at. Here are the milestone ranges[3] for most of the towns and starting milestones are indicated on the milestones wiki page in the god wiki. I'm only including the towns I have traveled to so far. Also, if you'll note, for the towns (except Godville) I have listed a +1 milestone for the range beginning. This is just to ensure that when you give the command that your desired results for that range happens. For the complete list please refer to the milestones wiki page.

0 Godville 0-9

10 Bumchester 11-19

20 Last Resort 21-29

30 Beerburgh 31-49

50 Trollbridge 51-69

70 Los Demonos 71-89

90 Monsterdam 91-99

100 Tradeburg 101-129

130 Los Adminos 131-169

170 San Satanos 171-209

210 Godvillewood 211-249

250 Herolympus 251-299

300 Dogville 301-349

350 Anville 351-499

500 Deville 501-799

Now that the ranges for each town are established here is how you can use the "go to town" vc. As your hero/ine is questing they will pass the milestones. To send your hero/ine back to a specific town make sure they are in the milestone range for that specific town. When your hero is not fighting a monster and just traveling between battles you can use "go to town" vc. You will know that your hero has listened when you receive a message that says: "12:28 I don't want to go on any further. I guess I'd better go back to town now." or "06:27 I'm frightened of these scary voices. Going back to the nearest town to get a new pair of pants." or "08:14 I don't like those strange sounds. I'd better go find some town to sharpen my sword and polish my shield." Now your hero will travel to the town corresponding to the range of the milestone he was at when he acknowledged your vc. For example, if your hero is at milestone 60 and he acknowledges the go to town command he will travel back to Trollbridge; If he is at milestone 103 he will travel back to Tradeburg, etc.

Applications

So, why would you want to use this command? I use it for several purposes.

If your hero is low on health and has a relatively full inventory you can opt to use this command to send him back to town to heal and to sell inventory items (and of course hopefully get a melt). I used it mostly to avoid certain towns that heroes are know to waste more money at. My standard route is Godville to mile 28 or 29, go back to Last Resort, then travel to Trollbridge and/or Los Demonos, from there my hero will make it at least to milestone 100 so I'll hit Tradeburg somewhere between 100 and 129 depending on my inventory and how many times I want to send him back to Tradeburg.

Let's use Tradeburg (range 101-129) for example. I'll use this a lot if I'm close to finishing a quest, not far enough along to use a couple of "complete quest faster" vc's to complete, and I want to avoid Los Adminos. Let's say the last town I came from was Los Demonos and I'm at milestone 101. I'll probably have at least 2/3 of my inventory full so I'll use "go to town" to send my hero to Tradeburg. After he finishes there he will return to milestone 101. Then let's say I dug up a golden brick, or maybe I got several bold items, or even maybe my guild needs some more influence in Tradeburg. After a couple of battles or a couple of milestones I'll send the go to town command again. Let's say I was at milestone 115. When my hero has finished at Tradeburg he will return to milestone 115. Now I'm probably close to the end of a quest but won't be able to skip Los Adminos and make it to San Satanos so I'll send the vc again to send my hero back to Tradeburg.

In my experience I've only done this successfully three times in a row. I haven't tried to do more but I have noticed that if I have used the command more often in a day, later in that day when I try to use it I'll get a negative response saying "07:27 Great One, I'm sort of bored of doing this. How about trying again tomorrow?" or something like that message. So you can't continue to use this command as many times as you want.

Focused Encouraging

I recommend focusing your encourages while selling items in town. This can maximize the possibility of good things happening when you're trying to go for a melt.

These are possible outcomes of encouraging in town (there may be more that I'm forgetting):

  • melt coins into a brick
  • increase hp
  • hero/ine prays resulting in an increase in gp
  • guild influence increase
  • nothing

These two outcomes only happen when you encourage while selling inventory:

  • hero/ine sneaks coins from the register
  • trader gives additional item

If you already have 3000 coins then any encourage at any time could melt into a brick. But if you encourage while selling inventory in town, in addition to the regular outcomes, you could get more coins or additional items to sell for more coins which all leads to getting closer to a brick.

Let's say you only have 2700 coins. Encouraging while selling inventory in town could yield up to 499 coins from the register which could get you to brick melting range. Also, additional inventory items gained while selling will also be sold thus increasing your coins and get you closer to brick melting range.

Finally, if you wait to try to melt after selling, your hero will be at the counter and possibly buy equipment or healing supplies which would just decrease your coin balance and possibly put you out of brick melting range. By encouraging while selling (before your hero/ine reaches the counter or even to the stage where he wastes money at the tavern) you can maximize your chances to reach or stay in brick melting range and hopefully get your melt.

Digging Methods[4]

I am a big advocate of using the dig voice command. It was an integral part of my temple construction. Have you found a digging method that works for you? If not here are some suggestions I can offer. I preface this by saying there is some debate as to the validity of this method but I will explain why I think it works later.

Getting Started

What you're going to need is a clock that shows the seconds. The basic idea is to be able to time your dig voice commands (vc) so that in the diary section the command appears one minute and the response (if any) appears at the next minute. To accomplish this you need to find out when the timer in the game is going from the 59 second mark to the 00 (next minute) mark and estimate where that is on the clock you are watching. Here is an example:

08:08 A massive tablet suddenly fell from the sky. Inscribed upon it were the words: 'dig.'

08:09 I can't dig here! There's a golden brick in the way. Oh well, I'll simply take it.

If you'll notice the dig command appeared in the diary at 8:08. Fortunately there was a response and it appeared in the diary at 8:09. Here's another example:

08:54 I sat on a rock to have lunch, but was stunned by the sudden roar from heaven: 'dig.' I choked on a donut.

08:55 Spent a few minutes sifting through the sand. Found 131 coins

Isolating the Diary Time

Since every clock is different here's the way I use to isolate on the clock when the game timer is advancing to the next minute. I'll use the computer clock and send vc's at the 15, 30, 45, and 00 second marks. That will help me isolate where the diary clock is changing. Let's say it changed between my 15 and 30 second commands. In the next minute I'll send more commands at 15, 20, 25, and 30 second marks. Hopefully you get the idea. So let's say the diary is changing between 15 and 20. Now that you have isolated where on your clock the diary is changing you can start sending your dig commands close to when the diary clock is going to change hopefully for a vc at one minute in the diary and the response at the next minute in the diary.

Responses and Reactions

When you get a response either positive that you dug something up (like random coins (1-499), a treasure chest (500 - 2499), an inventory item, or even a brick) or a negative response (like dug a hole upset a mole or dug around with my shoe tip and didn't find anything)...stop sending commands. If you keep sending vc's you're just wasting gp. You will want to wait until the next minute mark. Also, if you don't get a response at all after maybe 3 or 4 tries, stop and wait until the next minute mark.

With this new message "10:52 Everyone wants to dig, but no one wants to bury. This business model is unsustainable, Almighty!" my findings are that this should just be ignored since I was able to dig up coins or something immediately after receiving this message[5][6][7][8]. Therefore, stop digging with your other messages as if they were responses but you can ignore this one. Let me know if you experience anything different.

I will say that towards the end of my temple construction I got impatient and would send 3 or 4 dig commands at the 30 second mark. Sometimes that would yield something also but if you're trying to conserve gp stick with 59/00 to send your dig vc.

Possible Theory

Although there is debate as to whether this really works my experience says it does. The reason why I think it works doesn't necessarily have to do with the fact that the vc is at the 59 second mark and the response is at the 00 mark. I think this method provided structure for when to send my dig commands. Additionally, I knew that after 3 or 4 tries I should just quit and wait till the next minute. It forced me to watch the clock and not send too many vc's and wasting my gp.

Other Resources

In the Blue Feather guild forum Justday explains digging. She is the one that initially advised me on digging.

Also, in the Harvest Moon guild forum Marked8 explains his method. He employs a method that maximizes the number of commands that you can send at one time in the voice command line. He posted this after I had completed my temple so I haven't really had a chance to try it out for myself but I have heard from other members of Blue Feather that it has worked for them by increasing the chance of a response.

Final Thoughts

I suggest reading my method, Justday's post, and Marked8's post and trying them all. Find something that works for you or mix and match to stay within your supply of gp. But, most importantly, do dig when you can because I feel it is important to speeding up temple completion.

Mini Quests

I need to clean this section up but here is a listing of mini quests, boss, and items gained.

Ostensibly the "boldly go and take on some mini-quest" is a generic one to start with a prize of a quest positioning system. The subsequent mini quests will determine boss/no boss.

One note, if you activate more than one activate-able item that generates mini quests each resulting set of mini quests will cancel the previous set of mini quests. You don't end up with a "quest within a quest within a quest" situation. You just never get to finish the previous sets of mini quests.

For this "fishing" section of mini quests there is a possibility of an additional "teach a man to fish" mini quest. Additionally, Amanda got the Drowned Captain boss after she completed "find someone who sleeps with the fishes" whereas mine just ended with an item. I can't explain the inconsistency of this specific group but Oblee brought up a very good point about the possibility that arena was down when I completed the "sleep with fishes" quest.

Retirement Donation data

These days I pretty much let my hero do what he wants but here's what I learned from my initial efforts.

Whether your hero/ine donates in town is still a random occurrence it seems. However there are towns that have higher donation percentages when they do donate. Therefore if you want to work on savings the trick is to visit those towns that typically have a larger percentage donation rate when your hero does donate.

In addition to visiting those towns you will want to have plenty of gold/bold items to sell so that when a donation happens hopefully you have a large sum to donate from and in a town with large percentage donation. I have also used lots of miracles to fill my inventory with bolds on my way back to the targeted towns to increase the gold balance. Digging for gold/bricks also helps but we all know the miracles are a sure thing for bold items.

Below are some stats I have gathered some stats on donation percentages I have had in some towns.

I will also mention that the very few stats I have on using the "go to town" vc seem to indicate an increase in the chance for a donation but I do not have enough evidence to be able to say definitively that this works. Those percentages where I did have a donation after using the "go to town" vc are in blue.

Once final note that has been experienced by me and others, an aura of abstinence will prevent any retirement donations.

Good luck!

Guide to find who will you match in the Arena

Level 10 - 13: You will match only players of the same level.

Levels 14, 15, 16, 17 will match up 4 levels but no lower than 14.

Levels 18 - 29: You will match 4 levels above you and below you. Example: level 15 can match a level 14 or 19.

Level 30: You will match 4 levels below (Level 26) and up to 5 levels above you (Level 35)

Levels 31 - 44: You will match 5 levels above and below. Example: Level 31 matches 26-36, Level 44 matches 39-49.

Note: After level 44 the ranges are really confusing and hard to be certain. The following guide is not 100%

Level 45 - 54: You will match 5 levels below, but can match 6 levels above. Example: Level 45 matches 40-51, Level 49 matches 44-55.

Level 51 - 54: You match 6 levels below, but can match 7 levels above. Example: Level 51 matches 45-56, Level 54 matches 48-60

Level 55 - 62: You match 6 levels above and below but 7 levels above. Example: Level 55 matches 49-62.

Level 63+: You match 7 levels above and below. Example: 63 matches 56-70.

  • AWESOME GOD FRIDAY*

Goddess: "Sarika Nepartak":http://godvillegame.com/gods/Sarika%20Nepartak

Hero: Mekkhala

Although origins of this beautiful and powerful goddess remain shrouded in mystery and rumor what is known, to all in Godville, is her generosity. Nary a temple completion for members of Blue Feather guild and numerous other new temple owner celebrations across Godville have gone without a celebratory temple cake magically appearing amidst a small whirlwind originating from the BF guild mansion kitchen. Additionally, it is with selfless generosity that Sarika satisfies all our epicureanistic desires with homemade delicacies emanating from the BF guild mansion kitchen in the form of breakfast. Many gods and goddesses have succumb to the alluring aromas wafting from the delectable creations. What they find when they arrive is sustenance...but not just for the stomach, but for the soul also, as Sarika offers advice and guidance to any and all that ask.

Her vast amounts of knowledge are readily shared with all who seek enlightenment. The advice and information is always given freely and has improved lives of heroes, heroines, gods, and goddesses across Godville. (I personally have seen evidence that she can resurrect a dead pet in her sleep since she has literally had to do it more times than anyone else I know.) She is able offer advice and counsel to all from the newest of noobs to the ancient elders. This is particularly advantageous as she is one of the Blue Feather guild Officers.

As a Blue Feather guild Officer she is able to eviscerate any complex issue to arrive at the root of the problem and provide viable solutions where all parties involved are satisfied with the outcome. She leads by example and with passion and conviction. It is with this passion that she encourages her guild mates and provides heart-felt cheers for all achievements. Her ability to bring the guild members together to work towards a common goal is evidenced by the achievements our smaller guild has achieved in a short time. She is admired, not only by her fellow guild members, but also by masses of others in Godville.

So I close with a sincere thank you to Sarika. Thank you for making Godville a better place for me and countless others.

Sarika; The "Tomb Raider" of Godville. Tough, beautiful, equally able and comfortable baking cinnamon rolls or slaying arena opponents. A no-sonsense, nonsensical lady who is no lady. - "Rufustjynd":http://godvillegame.com/gods/Rufustjynd

I was a solitary goddess much of the time until meeting Sarika. Her sincerity, generosity, and acceptance of my particular brand of insanity inspired me to come out of my shell and get to know other inhabitants of Godville. Without Sarika, I may have well faded back into the aether rather than take on the quest to be the best goddess, guild mate, and active participant I can be. She’s more than a compatriot, friend and inspiration; she’s family. Thank you, Sarika, for everything! I love you! - "Dogess":http://godvillegame.com/gods/Dogess

@SB: equipment is based on its total level, not the level of any individual piece. If it averages at higher than your hero's level it'll occasionally deal bonus damage or heal him a bit, the higher its total the more often this happens, and it always happens at the beginning of a fight. If it averages lower than your hero's level he'll get messages about it being rubbish instead, which will inflict damage on him.

Bjørnen sover, bjørnen sover

I sitt lune hi

Den er ikke farlig

Så lenge man går varlig

Men man kan jo

Men man kan jo

Aldri være trygg!

The bear is sleeping, bear is sleeping

In his whimsical hi

It is not dangerous

As long as you go cautiously

But one might

But one might

Never be safe!
