Welcome
Between the dawn and the night, a prophecy was forged in the forgotten realm of Earth that foretold the end of another world -- a world of heroes, the world of Godville.<br>Caught up in their wars of attrition, those alleged forces of Good and Evil ignored the early warnings when a beautiful angel walked the lands during Godville's first age.  They called her false by those who bathed in their ignorance and sinful delights.<br>Until she met with a sorceress who shared the name of a legend.<br>Until the angel's Lord and the forlorn legend made a pact: to plunge their champions into absolute chaos and prepare for day of battle, should the prophecy speak truth.

What is Idle Omens?<br>
+
An Introduction<br>
<br>
+
<br>
Idle Omens got its beginnings as Godville's version of Good Omens, a novel by Neil Gaiman and Sir Terry Pratchett about the end of days.  Prior knowledge of it, or having read the novel is not really a requirement, as nearly all aspects of it have been altered to fit into Godville's worldGodville is a world bound by the knowledge of the geography of its realm, its milestones, and its many NPC inhabitants, such as the priests, shopkeepers, torch-carrying villagers and even the monsters our heroes fight.  In fact, its those very NPCs that this guild was established to protect, from an impending doomsday that will happenEventually.  After all, all things that exist must surely come to an end.<br>
+
We are the innocent, of things that may have been.  We are the sinners, the wretched of the Earth.  We're those who have found unity in emptiness, brought together by the tears we bleed.  In Godville, we're a guild that seeks to maintain a position of notoriety without resorting to deception and spoofing the game engine with an eternal supply of alternative accountsElsewhere, we're known as a community of writers that engage in various, often mature, RPs.
Until that fateful day, we're content being considered just another guild that has been caught up in the great Rank Wars of Godville.  Our guild members can be found lounging within the ruins (to be restored, one day) that serve as their guild hall, or facing off against other Gods and Goddess and their champions in the ArenaWe are a guild that focuses on the stories of our characters and so you may find yourself overwhelmed once you stumble upon our forumPlease, do not be -- our's is an internal RP that any one can be part of, though before seriously becoming involved, we do ask that you clear it with <small>}}God|Sireine}}</small> first.
+
<br>
*By posting in our forum, you agree to have at least respected our guild's policy, although they are not your own nor do we expect you to follow our RP rules if merely posting for an event your own guild is having.
+
Our community is small, despite the number of neutrals that seem to joinMany of us are too busy with the various aspects of our lives to care about whatever drama exists in this online game, so please don't get us involved.  Expect our core group to stay small, despite additions by the formula Godville holds for neutral (abandoned) heroes to join guildsSomedays, we're busy in the Council, other days we're trying to catch up with our personal lives.
*All members of Idle Omens, however, must agree to our rules before joiningThey're not too strict, but are in place to prevent certain events from repeating themselves.
+
*The guild has an external (non-Godville), post-to-play story that is RPed on Dreamwidth.org.  It is sometimes discussed in the GC, but no one that joins the guild is required to play in it, though everyone that plays it is asked to join the guild to keep GV chatter to a minimum.  Everyone is invited to join, but there are simple, yet strict, rules.  Not everyone will be accepted, but an open mind helps. All it takes is opening a dialogue with I<small>ADOBAOTH</small> or D<small>ARKENED DREAM</small>.
**All members that are involved in the guild's RP are assumed to have agreed to the rules found at the bottom of thispage.
+
**<small>Please understand that simply adding one of us to your messaging list does not make us automatically friends.  We have had very poor reception here in Godville so, please be patient with us if we're a bit defensive.</small>

<br><br>

<br><br>
Joining Idle Omens is easy, but belonging requires some degree of interaction with other guild members.
+
Joining Idle Omens is easy:
*To join, a simple voice command of join "Idle Omens" after reaching level 12 will do the trick.
+
*To join, a simple voice command of join "Idle Omens" after reaching level 12 will suffice.
**Issue the voice command when your hero is between fights, not in town or healing.  Do not cancel your current quest, as that changes the hero(ine)'s state to returning to town, in which most, if not all, voice commands are ignored.

**Do not cancel your current quest, as that changes the hero(ine)'s state to returning to town, in which most, if not all, voice commands are ignored.

***This can take several times, so be warned.  It is most effective to wait between 20 and 30 seconds between VCs before issuing another.

*We do ask that all members add this symbol: ' to their mottoes. References to idleness are optional, though it does make us seem more cohesiveFeel free to look at other members' mottoes if you need help deciding.
+
**Do not consider joining if your alignment is not somewhere on the spectrum of darkness.  There are other guilds for light-aligned heroes.
*We do not expect every member to join in the RP, but greatly encourage that they help us keep our standing as one of the more prominent new guilds among Godville in popularity, dueling. And, please spread the word to your friendsThe more interest we have in this guild, the better chance we have of reaching even higher.
+
*Please add this symbol: ♝ to your mottoes.
 +
**Those members who do not have ♝ within their mottoes can be considered inactive members.
 +
Belonging to the guild, however ... now that's a bit of a different storyBefore deciding to join at random, please take a moment to consider the following:
 +
*We were once the only guild with the True Darkness! alignment in the top 20 of dueling.  Coming back after a brief hiatus, we'd like to reclaim that.
 +
**Can you not stand the sight of your hero dying and thus hard-earned gold perish?  One encourage counts against 3 or more punishes.  It will drop your alignment.  Our heroes die, a lot.  Templed heroes never see a single encouragement.  Healing should only occur in the Arena, nowhere else.
 +
*Our style of roleplay, our language and our demeanors have been found unfit for Godvilles RP forums - whether we were targeted or not does not matter.  For better or worse, this guild will never include canonical RP in the forums on this medium, so whatever is posted on the forums?  Expect it to be edited, to be altered, just don't expect that's where the story ends.
 +
**If you're interested in this RP, you agree that the subject matter on the external site (it's hardly offensive, in this day and age...) stays there and is not brought back to Godville.
 +
***For the sake of the level of mature content, the head of the external community will ask for your actual ageThis will be the only personal detail we require absolute honesty on.  Whether you are a boy, girl, or in-between, does not matter.  Sharing those details and others are up to the individual beyond this point.
 +
*Those not involved in the external community are encouraged to make our guild forum home to those who want a tamer RP - there will be no themes in our forum that will not be found on daytime television, if there is an active RP at all.

Guild Hall
Once a splendid temple that was built by a forgotten cult to idolize a god-like Sorceress, this ruin is but a remnant of those days gone by.  The many years of neglect have lead to the growth of gigantic trees that blanket the temple grounds in shadows, even on the brightest of days.<br>

In its prime, the temple was a two-story complex with several basement levels developed by beings who trespassed through time.  Now, it remains as a curious ruin that can be found after a short walk through some forestation just before the River Kraktor runs into Vector Field.  Many of its upper levels are inaccessible due to broken ramps or damaged stairs, and only a few actual rooms seem to have remained fully intact.<br>

Pillars and statues adorn the mossy paths, giving it an almost garden-esque look to the ruin.  In the center lies a chamber that appears to have been used for ceremonies, and can be used by guild members to offer prayers to their guardian spirits.<br>

A lower floor can be accessed from just beyond a raised, stone platform near the riverbank.  At first, it appears to be no more than a dug out hallway, it connects to another stairway that is constructed from brick and mortar, though it soon turns into steel and marble.  What lies beneath the ruin is a strange place that seems to have been removed from any and all eras.  Several chambers resemble bedrooms from ancient times though the kitchens seem remotely modern -- designs seems to flow from every time imagined in the space beneath the temple floor, effectively creating an extensive, abandoned, living space.  Illuminated by electrical lamps and fiery torches, a few rooms even resemble neo-modern - albeit bare - bathrooms.  Despite the marvel of their existence, this sublevel is in a state of sad disrepair, many rooms completely bare and others are actually filled with crumbling stones and broken furniture, if not outright inaccessible due to flooding.<br>Another staircase can be found, designed from steel and glass, by the side of a wall near the first recreation hall, leading even deeper to an immediate door of stone and steel.  It is locked and reinforced by foreign enchantments, though Sireine can be seen entering the chamber every now and again.<br>During the hours of twilight, a strange, otherworldly mist rolls in from the banks of the river and covers the entire temple.  Apparitions and other spiritual beings may be seen as they wander the thin veil between death and acceptance, though they care little for the world of the living.  They are actually drawn to the sound of a haunting melody that echoes from somewhere within the ruins.  At the farthest edge of the ruin, a natural pool adorned by crystalline formations in its center can be found.  The immediate area surrounding the pool has been designated for in-house sparring sessions and, for now, most social gatherings.<br><br>We hope that, as our membership count grows, we may be able to restore the grounds to their former splendor ... even retaining some of the natural beauty it now possesses.  As the construction begins and evolves, so too will the description of this hall.<br><br><br><br>

Influence
We are one of the newer guilds in Godville and have already achieved a pretty solid rank in the Pantheon of Popularity.  If you notice your hero(ine) is healing in town and you have a few influences to spare -- never use a charge -- send it their way.  Every influence adds points to our overall score.  See our guide on Temple Building & General Tips for more information on how to make your trip to town beneficial to you and our guild.

Alignment
In keeping in spirit with the nature of those who would fight the apocalypse, we're a dark-aligned guild.  Why is this?  We're tempered in the absolute bedlam of Godville.  After all, we're supposed to be the ones to thwart it, possibly at the last moment possible.  In order to ensure that our members can over come absolute evil and good, we must become the embodiment of what they both fear: true darkness.<br>  There is a quote that this guild stands by, taken from the dimension known as Earth: <br><blockquote>“Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster. And if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you.”<br>-Friedrich Nietzsche </blockquote><br>

*So what does this mean?  To put it simply, we've stared into the abyss for too long and have found that it is not us who is looking into it, but are those who stare back.  A soul who hungers for battle may find that they're not immune to their divine's wrath -- and they revel in it.  A holy man may find that they've achieved serenity only through horrific ends.

**Although we accept all members, we greatly encourage that ... upon joining ... you bring your hero(ine) somewhere along the path of darkness.

**A ratio of one(1) encouragement for every three(3) punishments is encouraged, but not strictly enforced.

**Neutral hero(ines) are welcome, but please make yourself active in the forums at least once a week.  Members that are inactive for periods longer than 10 (10) days will be considered abandoned and removed from the storyline, unless arrangements have been made prior to absence.

***If the inactive member returns, they may be placed back in the storyline at <small>Sireine</small>'s discretion.

Dueling
+
Totem Monster
The Arena.<br>Members are encouraged to take part in dueling at least once per day if they are able to. For members ranked Chief Master and higher, their records directly influence our ranking in the Pantheon of Duelery. From the many battles witnessed by <small>Iadobaoth</small>'s Anafi-el, here are some guidelines and tips:
+
Our totem monster is the Chaos Forger.  There are two definitions of this - one in which is more akin to our external RP known as the Realm which deals with some very dark and hopeless themes - please browse through our forums for an highly censored, and ever altering idea.)  The second is one more akin to the world of Godville - a tiny smith who dreams of being a great evil in the world but often fails miserably and wreaks havoc on naive hero(ine)s and their journey.
*On regular days, wait until you have 100% god power and 3 or more charges. This ensures that, no matter what special rules come into play, you'll be ready.
+

**This can not be stressed enough: never enter the Arena with less than 3 charges and, after sending the hero(ine), 50% GP.
+

*Let us know if you're going to the Arena!  Friendly duels can take place by 'challenging' a friend, and will have no outcome on your dueling rank.
+
Pantheons & Other
**If you do not have a Temple, let us know in the Guild Council with the message "arena_nt" before sending your hero(ine) to the arena.
+
Influence
**If you do have a finished Temple, let us know by typing in "arena_t".
+
Please help Idle Omens maintain its place as one of the top 100 or so guilds in popularity while maintaining our alignment!
 +
*If you notice your hero(ine) is healing in town and you have a some God Power to spare -- never use a charge -- send an influence their way.
 +
*Every divine punishment adds points to your guild's overall score, although once we obtain a templed hero ... it is rumored that Miracles give the most influence.<br>
 +
See the guide on Temple Building & General Tips for more information on how to make your trip to town beneficial to you and our guild.

 +
Idle Omens is for <b>dark</b> heroes.  That means, quite simply, if your hero is kind, gentle, and good?  You're going to be asked to change your alignment.  As of late, we have an issue being trolled by three particular accounts that have been created - by the assumption of the <b>true</b> members - in orders to bring our alignment away from our goal.
 +

 +
Unfortunately, because Godville does not let the Guild Leader discharge members of their guilds for whatever reason, we're stuck with them until they a quest to join another guild while their singular (assumed) player is away.

***The backfires in Godville are ... random.  Some may say they are not, but we believe they are.  With this rule, 2 in 7 or so influences will effect you(your opponent if encouraging), none, or both.  If you send out 3 influences and you haven't experienced backlash yet, send a healing voice command if you're going to punish next round - just in case your stray lightning bolt doesn't zap a wondering monster.

Policies
Somethings just need to be said before we beginMost of our members are roleplayers from tabletops to internet forums.  They are disciplined and adjusted to one type of game -- one in which characters are rich and deep, sensible and mature. Please be advised that some of the following rules only apply to the guild's RP -- not everyone who visits our guild's forum, unless stated:
+
<br>
*Please be courteous when speaking to each other in the Guild Council or in the Forum.
+
This guild has two, very simple ruleWell, three.

*Please be courteous when speaking to each other.  The unspoken, bonus rule.

**Out right use of profanity will not be tolerated in the forum and is advised against in the Guild Council as well.

**Courteous does not mean nice, it means respectful.

**Courteous does not mean nice, it means respectful.
**Non-Guild Members: Do not post without regard to the current plot or location -- we respect your forums, please respect ours.  If arrangements have been made with <br><small>Sireine</small>, please disregard.  However, do not lie.  A simple (Hey, Sireine: QUESTION HERE) in the forums works if you have no GV invites.  Some oversights will be forgiven, other's ... well.  Some of our members are very peculiar about how we handle outside interference.

***Wherein it should be obvious, this only applies to in-character posts.  Out of character banter between guilds is encouraged, but we hope you respect our forum's one major rule -- that Out of Character is placed between parentheses.

*Role-playing should be done in storybook, or novel-esque format.  For those unsure of this format, it uses simply text that is found in any story without the italics for actions and such.  It is the format dominate in our forum, so please read a few posts to get an idea of it.

**<small>Sireine</small> is willing to give basic lessons on this format if needed, but she firmly believes everyone has read at least one book in their lifetimes, so this need shouldn't arise.

**We use what is called the 'fade to black' for intimate scenarios, should they arise.  Please keep in mind that in Godville, ages vary wildly and consent may mean that some one taking the chance of believing the other.  There are other forums on the internet if you really need that kind of role-playing.

**Please keep posting to a minimum, and be respectful that not everyone lives in the same timezone.  If out of character chat becomes too frequent, offenders may be asked to leave the forum.

***For this reason, we ask that those intending to join the RP create an alt and join our guild.  This allows OoC banter to be kept in the Guild Council.

**General questions should be directed at <small>Sireine</small>, who asks that you be patient.  If the same question is asked both in forum and as a PM, the offender will be asked to stop, calm down, and wait.  Repeat offenses will be removed from the RP and possibly ignored all together.

**For non-Guild players only:  <small>YOU DO NOT OWN THE RP.  YOU DO NOT CONTROL THE RP.  THERE IS NO ALL POWERFUL I DO WHATEVER I WANT RP ALLOWED.</small>  You've come across our RP and are a guest.  Do not make us regret our open-door policy.<br>

<br>

If, for any reason, you can not abide by these rules, then we're not for you.  We realize that, with every internet game, there is going to be some one that ruins it.  Until then, let us try to have fun.  And one final, absolutely should not have to be said note:  You, the human playing, have read this wiki.  Not your character.  If you don't know what that means, ask.  If you still don't know what that means, play Godville for what it was meant to be.  We highly encourage those who wish to join the guild RP read the full rules found here.

A prophecy once spoken by a seer, who worshipped a sorceress of legend foretold of her downfall.  It would come gradual, as a thief in the night and would leave her forgotten.  Years later, a woman whom shares the same name and cruel smile is seen walking the legendary sorceress's derelict temple.  She brings with her the body of a male human who had seen too much time decomposing in the shallow waters.  From death, the woman creates her champion ... her White Lion ... and enslaves his mind with an enchanted mask.  Her will is his only desire, the Sorceress sends her champion to the city of Godville to reclaim her former glory, beginning with bathing in the blood of those who stole from her.<br><br>After the sorceress made a pack with a god from another world, the Lady Sireine began to make plans to ensnare as many worthy followers as she could and sends her champion far and wide, delivering enchanted parcels to the many bars that litter the realm.<br>Surely some of the heroes of Godville would succumb to the temptation of fighting against their doom.

<small>The Story of Lurid Sin</small>: Retired<br>
+
With every internet game, there is going to be some one that ruins itThat one troll that thinks the internet, and life, is a joke.
Fed up with the abandonment of her God, the daughter of the Desert left her tribe of dark-skinned elf-kin and began to wander the land on her own.  Often mistaken for a feral heroine, she found herself on the verge of death several times, though only twice more than how many heroes she struck down.  For nearly four years, the elf-kin honed her skills on heroes and beasts alike, until she happened upon a young human girl engaged in conversation with the air.<br>Finding a strange sense of kinship with this young human, they traveled together under the watch of the Goddess, Vesania.
+

Delirium's Sweet Child
+
Until then, let us try to have fun.
<small>As told by Vesania</small>: Retired<br>
+

Where to begin with this child?  She had been committed to the asylum before she was a teen, had killed her mother by the time she was released, and well on her way to a short life of crime and abandon. She dyed her hair at random, wearing mismatched eyeliner and garish outfits that were often nothing more than scraps she found in forsaken houses, or that she stole from the merchants.  By the time she was an adult, Lucidea had already mastered the art of seduction ... although her victims always wound up on the wrong side of her intentions.  One of these attempts at blackmail ended when she met Vesania, a being of jovial chaosThe two felt a strange kinship with each other - well, Lucidea had a voice to listen to again, and the Goddess had an amusing servant now.<br>It wasn't long after that she would meet with her best friend and elf sister, Kae'in on the road to Godville.
+

The Relic Hunter
The Writ of <small>Sil3nce</small><br>

Garwyn's story is simple: he visited the Godville taverns at closing time and saw the most intriguing of artifacts left behindUnknowing that this was actually a ploy by the Owl that kept watch over him to become part of a guild, he quickly procured the item and left the building even quicker.  His life before that fateful acquisition was filled with passion and adventures, that were mostly lies and tall tales.  He hadn't come across any great treasure like his forebears before him, no romantic conquests like the story of his ma and pap.  His life was turning around ever since he came across an Owl that didn't make a sound.  Not when flying, not when giving him almost human glares.  Little did the young treasure hunter know that this Owl was a being of some mediocre power that had ulterior motives for the former background character.

The Sweetest Misery
The Dreams of <small>My Own Nightmare<br></small>

After realizing that she had given form to the shadow wight that plagued her dreams, Twila would go on to join a rather secretive organization.  Due to their nature, details of her adolescence are scarce.  What is known about this dark-skinned woman is that she was often seen in the company of another who seemed to be her polar opposite in both skin-tone, clothe, and demeanor.  Little did she know that both the organization and her shadowy friend were remnants of a much older establishment, one from the time when magic was revered and rightly feared, not as common as man's idiocy.

The Guild

An Introduction

We are the innocent, of things that may have been. We are the sinners, the wretched of the Earth. We're those who have found unity in emptiness, brought together by the tears we bleed. In Godville, we're a guild that seeks to maintain a position of notoriety without resorting to deception and spoofing the game engine with an eternal supply of alternative accounts. Elsewhere, we're known as a community of writers that engage in various, often mature, RPs.
Our community is small, despite the number of neutrals that seem to join. Many of us are too busy with the various aspects of our lives to care about whatever drama exists in this online game, so please don't get us involved. Expect our core group to stay small, despite additions by the formula Godville holds for neutral (abandoned) heroes to join guilds. Somedays, we're busy in the Council, other days we're trying to catch up with our personal lives.

  • The guild has an external (non-Godville), post-to-play story that is RPed on Dreamwidth.org. All it takes is opening a dialogue with Godicon.pngIADOBAOTH or Godicon.pngDARKENED DREAM.
    • Please understand that simply adding one of us to your messaging list does not make us automatically friends. We have had very poor reception here in Godville so, please be patient with us if we're a bit defensive.

Joining Idle Omens is easy:

  • To join, a simple voice command of join "Idle Omens" after reaching level 12 will suffice.
    • Issue the voice command when your hero is between fights, not in town or healing.
    • Do not cancel your current quest, as that changes the hero(ine)'s state to returning to town, in which most, if not all, voice commands are ignored.
      • This can take several times, so be warned. It is most effective to wait between 20 and 30 seconds between VCs before issuing another.
    • Do not consider joining if your alignment is not somewhere on the spectrum of darkness. There are other guilds for light-aligned heroes.
  • Please add this symbol: ♝ to your mottoes.
    • Those members who do not have ♝ within their mottoes can be considered inactive members.

Belonging to the guild, however ... now that's a bit of a different story. Before deciding to join at random, please take a moment to consider the following:

  • We were once the only guild with the True Darkness! alignment in the top 20 of dueling. Coming back after a brief hiatus, we'd like to reclaim that.
    • Can you not stand the sight of your hero dying and thus hard-earned gold perish? One encourage counts against 3 or more punishes. It will drop your alignment. Our heroes die, a lot. Templed heroes never see a single encouragement. Healing should only occur in the Arena, nowhere else.
  • Our style of roleplay, our language and our demeanors have been found unfit for Godvilles RP forums - whether we were targeted or not does not matter. For better or worse, this guild will never include canonical RP in the forums on this medium, so whatever is posted on the forums? Expect it to be edited, to be altered, just don't expect that's where the story ends.
    • If you're interested in this RP, you agree that the subject matter on the external site (it's hardly offensive, in this day and age...) stays there and is not brought back to Godville.
      • For the sake of the level of mature content, the head of the external community will ask for your actual age. This will be the only personal detail we require absolute honesty on. Whether you are a boy, girl, or in-between, does not matter. Sharing those details and others are up to the individual beyond this point.
  • Those not involved in the external community are encouraged to make our guild forum home to those who want a tamer RP - there will be no themes in our forum that will not be found on daytime television, if there is an active RP at all.

Totem Monster

Our totem monster is the Chaos Forger. There are two definitions of this - one in which is more akin to our external RP known as the Realm which deals with some very dark and hopeless themes - please browse through our forums for an highly censored, and ever altering idea.) The second is one more akin to the world of Godville - a tiny smith who dreams of being a great evil in the world but often fails miserably and wreaks havoc on naive hero(ine)s and their journey.

Pantheons & Other

Influence

Please help Idle Omens maintain its place as one of the top 100 or so guilds in popularity while maintaining our alignment!

  • If you notice your hero(ine) is healing in town and you have a some God Power to spare -- never use a charge -- send an influence their way.
  • Every divine punishment adds points to your guild's overall score, although once we obtain a templed hero ... it is rumored that Miracles give the most influence.

See the guide on Temple Building & General Tips for more information on how to make your trip to town beneficial to you and our guild.

Alignment

“Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster. And if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you.”
-Friedrich Nietzsche

Idle Omens is for dark heroes. That means, quite simply, if your hero is kind, gentle, and good? You're going to be asked to change your alignment. As of late, we have an issue being trolled by three particular accounts that have been created - by the assumption of the true members - in orders to bring our alignment away from our goal.

Unfortunately, because Godville does not let the Guild Leader discharge members of their guilds for whatever reason, we're stuck with them until they a quest to join another guild while their singular (assumed) player is away.

Dueling

The Arena.
Members are encouraged to take part in dueling at least once per day if they are able to to help us maintain our current top 20 rank in duelery.

Members ranked Chief Master and higher, should know that their records directly influence Idle Omens' ranking in the Pantheon of Duelery.

Here are some guidelines and tips:

  • On regular days, wait until you have 100% god power and 3 or more charges.
    • Unless you are dueling in the new ZPG Arena, within the first 5 minutes of every hour, this will prepare you for whatever other special rules may come.
      • This can not be stressed enough: never enter the Arena with less than 3 charges and, after sending the hero(ine), 50% GP. There are those who do not send any influences at all, but as you climb the ranks ... get ready to match with more and more active duelers.
  • Try to let us know prior to sending your hero to the Arena in the GC - this will prevent duels between guild members.
    • In the event that two of our members meet in the Arena, it is up to the individuals on how they wish to proceed. It is recommended to just have a non-influence/command battle to save GP charges, but it is up to the pair dueling.
  • Pay attention to the additional rules that judges will implement:
    • Both competitors will lose HP each round.
      • About 5-10 health is taken from both contestants per round, in addition to any offensive damage. Using the heal voice command, (e.g.: Drink, Heal, and Rest) rather than offensive commands every round is recommended.
    • Divine influence will be twice as likely to backfire.
      • The backfires in Godville are ...
    • Loser gets 3 gold bricks as a consolation prize.
      • It is tempting, especially for those who don't have a temple to try to lose these matches. We recommend trying to win, but only using one charge during the battle. Sure, it might knock our ranking down a bit ... but 3 golden bricks is decent compensation.
    • Only two(2) actions are allowed instead of four(4).
      • If you and your opponent both are using influences, its not too bad. Otherwise, it becomes up to the Random Number God and your play style.
        • Tip: Use voice commands rather than direct influences. "Strike"/"Attack" during your turn, "Heal" or "Defend" on the opposing turn.
        • Tip: Send (1) Punish influence at the start of the battle. Use voice commands throughout until your opponent reaches ~30 health, then send a second Punish with either a "Heal" or a final "Attack" command.
        • Tip: Locking your opponent's actions is another way to bring this special rule to your advantage. Simply use voice commands rather than any influence.
    • Only (3) charges are allowed.
This shouldn't be an issue for most, it will become an issue for paid duelers/those with more than 3 charges, use the voice command: "Pray" to recover precious GP.
      • Now, if you have more than 3 charges to begin with - be sure to restore your GP up to 100% and there will be no problem.
    • The Judges will pray between rounds.
      • This can have its advantages and disadvantages; every round, 5-10 (or more) GP is restored. To take advantage of it, use voice commands every turn until your either about to be locked or on your last 25%.
      • Very likely, you can win these fights without using more than one or two charges.
    • This fight will be twice as fast.
      • You and your opponent will attack at the same time, so only the fighter who's name is on top can block, otherwise this is a standard match.
  • Make sure you check your opponents stats. If they have won more arena matches than two (2) times their levels mean that they a. have purchased extra charges, b. only has enough to last this match, or c. possess a personal connection to the RNG. At least that's the crazy math we do around here. It may or may not be 50% accurate.
  • Sometime during the first two steps (3 entries), unless its a Prayer match, or an agreed non-influence match, restore your GP by using 1 charge.
    • It is also advisable (if you have more than 3 charges) to go ahead and refill your GP while waiting to be matched. This prevents you from being stuck with 2.5 charges instead of 3 should that match rule come up.
  • Strike at them. Use your influences wisely - keep in mind that only about 1 in 4 voice commands will be heard, sometimes the ratio is higher, sometimes it is lower.
    • GodSireine  encourages that all attack commands are ...with righteous fury and indignant wrath. And that we heal by drinking from life's bitter poisons. Or come up with your own variations.
    • Remember to alternate between offensive voice commands and defensive. A well-timed heal can mean the difference between victory and defeat.
    • Please keep in mind that some offensive commands will cause your opponent to restore some of their GP. Always expect some kind of influence, be it a voice command or actual influence, on the following turn.
  • Never end a turn with less than 30% of your Godpower if you can avoid it.
  • Try to be a good sport, even if you lose and now have 0 charges. Remember, the Arena is mostly luck and a basic understanding of when influences will backfire ... which can seem at random most times.
    • We all lose sometimes, these tips are a guide and meant to give a basic example of how to be a ruthless arena fighter. It is possible to win in the Arena using only voice commands, so finding a style that suits your tastes is, as it should be, up to you.
    • If it seems that the Random Number God is out for your soul, take a break from the Arena. There are other ways you can help our guild besides shedding the blood of others.

Now, of course, if you win ... use that 100% GP to accumulate another charge and poof: If you used all three charges, you're back to having 2 plus a free prayer in town.

Temple Building & General Tips

Other than the Arena (which can provide up to 4 bricks at a time), there are a number of ways to speed up the construction of one's personal Temple.

  • Using a divine influence when your hero(ine) possesses more than 3,000 coins can result in the melting of a brick.
    • Using this influence during the selling stage of a town visit greatly increases your chance of receiving additional gold, or another artifact if the influence fails.
    • Every town visit includes the following stages of progress (in no particular order): healing, selling, buying potions/equipment, wasting money, prayer.
      • If you return to town via a completed quest with a healing item, you may skip the healing process.
      • If you return to town with fewer that half your total maximum item capacity (how many items you can carry in your inventory), there is a high chance that your hero(ine) will skip all steps after healing.
  • Gold bricks can sometimes be found using the voice command dig.
    • It can also result in unearthing an underground boss, so be cautious. Victory ensures a large profit, but defeat means the loss of a good portion of your gold fund.
    • When you are waiting to be matched, see if any of your guild mates have enough health to join you.
    • It is advisable to only use the dig command if you have 80% of your maximum health or more.
  • Remember to vote in the Ideabox! Providing your input on content can and will make your prayers more effective, but don't just spam votes. Some of the content is actually worth upvoting, and while others are just ... well. Its a matter of taste. Don't forget to vote at least every 8 hours to maximize this bonus.

Policies

This guild has two, very simple rule. Well, three.

  • Please be courteous when speaking to each other. The unspoken, bonus rule.
    • Out right use of profanity will not be tolerated in the forum and is advised against in the Guild Council as well.
    • No derogatory terms, racial slurs, or anything that may offend some one else.
    • Courteous does not mean nice, it means respectful.
  • Please uphold any promises you make to members of this guild, or any other member of Godville's community.
    • This includes both agreements and deals, witnessed or between two individuals.
    • We take our honor very seriously, so do not break it.
  • If you're alignment is not spiteful or lower (wicked, cruel, vicious, or pure evil) then please alter your alignment immediately upon receiving a quest to join this guild.
    • Refusal to do so as an active player will result and the active members of the guild trying to contact you in attempts to encourage you to follow the guild's policy.
    • Do not join this guild if you are simply trying to reach an achievement, or whatever means why you would join a guild aiming to True Darkness as a Pure Good hero/ine.

If, for any reason, you can not abide by these rules, then this guild is not for you. With every internet game, there is going to be some one that ruins it. That one troll that thinks the internet, and life, is a joke.

Until then, let us try to have fun.
