Welcome! ๐Ÿ˜„

Heya there Naturegirl!

You're probably seen the post I wrote on the forum responding to your questions there! I just thought I'd give you a friendly note here too ๐Ÿ˜Š

You might notice that I've undone some of your recent edits. I don't want you to feel like you've done anything very wrong (like WardPhoenix said, all of us did the same kinds of things when we started, and the experienced editors at the time patiently and carefully tried to give us the same advice that we're giving you now ๐Ÿ˜‰). I thought it might help if I clearly explained why I undid some of them.

 • You added to the bottom of the list pages. There is no such category, so I undid the edits to avoid issues with that. We currently include all such list pages in Category:Gameplay, and we also have Template:Navbox lists at the top and bottom of those pages to help with navigation between them. Now, perhaps we ought to have a dedicated for those pages! That's worth discussing with the other active editors, to see what people think, before making such a significant change. If you'd like us to discuss the option of creating a new category for the lists pages, you'd do that by starting a new discussion topic on Talk:Main Page. (You'll find there a long history of us discussing and coming to agreements on all kinds of changes, suggestions, or improvements to the wiki over time. Discussion and agreement is how we get everything done here! ๐Ÿ˜Š)
 • You added to a few pages. We don't use that category, it's a relic from an old mistake. The correct category is Category:Marked for deletion, which is a hidden category (meaning it won't usually show up at the bottom of a page). The reasoning for this is that we shouldn't be marking a page for deletion without clearly explaining why it is so marked. We do this by putting the delete (or delete guild, if appropriate) hatnote template at the top of the page. The template then decides automatically which categories it is most appropriate for the page to be included in.
 • Similarly with (which is automatically applied by the Stub hatnote), and (which is automatically applied by the Monster infobox template), etc. Wherever possible we use the most suitable template to apply the most suitable category, because inside the template we can hide some clever decisions about what should or shouldn't be categorised. For example, if someone comes along and puts their guild in the |totem= parameter of a monster's infobox, then the monster will magically be categorised into Category:Totem Monsters, etc. And if one day in future we agree that we should change the way those categories are arranged, we make just make the change once in the template, and suddenly all the pages that use that template are fixed all in one go. ๐Ÿ˜Š
 • Also, we would never mark a user or guild page with the stub template, nor place it into Category:Stubs. A stub is a page that could benefit from the creative contributions of any editor, it's an invitation for folks to roll up their sleeves and get writing! It's not appropriate to invite people to make contributions to those pages. ๐Ÿ˜Š

None of these are big deals, by the way, I just wanted you to have an explanation so you didn't think I just went through and reversed your edits to pick on you or anything! Not at all. We love new editors, and as you can see, there's more-or-less no mistake that can't be undone. (With the exception of deleting a page that was created in error -- only the devs can do that, and they'll only do so for a good reason.) It's probably a good idea for you to take a look at the Rules if you haven't, and since you're obviously interested in how the Godwiki works, you might enjoy reading the conversations at Talk:Main Page to see what sort of things get discussed there. (Most recent topics are at the bottom.)

Any questions or issues, don't hesitate to ask, either here on your talk page, on my talk page, on the Godville forum, or if you prefer, by private message on Godville is fine too.

Happy editing! -- Djonni (talk) 06:43, 1 August 2020 (UTC)

Oh, one PS: since you're making a lot of edits, I really recommend you get into the habit of leaving an edit comment every time. It really helps other Godwiki contributors see what's going on quickly, and it also helps sometimes to explain what and why you're doing the edit you're doing. If you take a look at Special:RecentChanges, or the edit history of any page, you'll see the edit comments (or lack of edit comments) there and hopefully you'll see why they're important too ๐Ÿ˜Š -- Djonni (talk) 06:46, 1 August 2020 (UTC)
