Embedding top template

Thanks again for the awesome work Djonni! I know you're against adding too much parameter to the template but what would you think about transcluding the {{top}} in it? (Yeah i love that template i know). User page tend to be long with the infobox and I though that template could help, especially on mobile view.

We can just add a line like I did on main content infobox or {{talkheader}} templates :

{{#if: {{yesno-no|{{{top|}}}|no=}}|{{top}}}}.

This one apply the top template automatically but disable it with |top=no (It could be done the other way with a yes to activate it I guess). -- WardPhoenix (talk) 22:49, 12 December 2019 (UTC)

Well, I feel like that's something users ought to add themselves if it's useful. The vast majority of existing user pages are actually short (ref. list of new user pages), and it doesn't seem intuitive to me that the Usergod template should add an entirely unrelated template that not all user pages need/want. I wouldn't want it enabled by default — it would need explaining to beginners why it's included, and how to disable it, and that's not obvious to someone who doesn't know wikis or wikicode well (and can actually get in the way of the editing text box on mobile, so would be an annoyance for many who don't need it and don't know why it's there). So it would be an opt-in with |top=yes, but that's actually harder and less obvious than just putting {{top}} on your page.
My feeling is that those who will invest enough in the template to make it long enough to justify {{top}} will be users who are exploring the wiki, inspecting wikicode, learning from examples, and they're the users who are most likely to find those other useful templates like {{top}}, {{construction}}, {{linear-gradient}}, etc. If anything, perhaps it would be a good idea to point to some useful User page templates on Guideline: God Articles.
Sorry mate... I know you love that template (and with good reason, you should be proud of it), but I don't think automatic inclusion in Usergod is a good idea 😅 -- Djonni (talk) 05:35, 13 December 2019 (UTC)
Well I can get behind those arguments 😂. Well there is already a list of "commonly used" templates in the creators manual in case after all.

Thanks fort taking time to answering :) -- WardPhoenix (talk) 10:54, 13 December 2019 (UTC)
