Three suggestions
- Are we going to start articles off with the appropriate infobox "shell" pre-loaded? I'd like to, if at all possible. (Perhaps that's what
$3
is for? In which case, cool.) - I'd suggest not wrapping
$2
in square brackets, and encoding them into the argument instead. That makes it more flexible, and allows us to replace$2
with whatever we want: Navboxes, multiple categories, etc. -- FeRDNYC (talk) 04:20, 29 December 2018 (UTC) - A third suggestion: Using
~~~
instead of{{subst:REVISIONUSER}}
might still be preferable simply because REVISIONUSER substitutes in nothing but the username, whereas three tildes adds both a link to their user page and (more critically) a link to their user talk page, which might be useful to have in the event hatnotes. Just a thought. -- FeRDNYC (talk) 04:28, 29 December 2018 (UTC)
- On #1, never mind I just saw JanuWiki 2019/Preload with infobox. (Sorry, I've been offline for a couple of days, just catching up.) I'll add some thoughts to the talk page there. So just #2 and #3 apply. -- FeRDNYC (talk) 04:45, 29 December 2018 (UTC)
- On #3, you've probably seen now that in the
{{Godwiki event construction}}
template, the{{subst:REVISIONUSER}}
uses the username to populate the {{God|extended=yes|author}} template. I decided to stick with that, because it still gives links to theUser:
andTalk:
page as well as a link to the user's Godville God page, allowing one-click visibility of the player's guild (for score tracking) and if necessary, direct messaging on Godville, which will be a million times more likely to be seen than aTalk:
message if the editor really wants to reach them. Certainly, if we don't like the way that{{God}}
formats, I can pull the link generation snippet out of it and insert it natively into both{{Godwiki event construction}}
and{{Godwiki event review}}
, but that seems unnecessary. :)
