No longer mini-quest, now aboveground... probably?
The quest chain that the Ancient Demon was once the end of, starting with Help an angel earn its wings and ending with Die another day, are no longer in the game as of sometime around 2012-2015 (refer the respective talk pages for more on this, or to further discuss the status of these quests). However, the Ancient Demon itself does still seem to exist in the game as an aboveground boss: last confirmed report of a "Notes from the battlefield" seems to be May 2015, and the Ancient Demon appears in other external resources as well.
Based on this, I'm going to tentatively change the Ancient Demon's classification from "mini-quest" to "aboveground", on this page, on Boss-monsters, and in Template:Navbox bosses. Evidence about aboveground vs mini-quest is notoriously difficult to collect, though, so please discuss any contradictory evidence you have here. -- Djonni (talk) 11:34, 2 December 2020 (UTC)
- Could you tell what other external resources you mentioned? I checked the Pantheon of Catch — no one of recently active gods has an Ancient Demon as a frankenboss. While it is understandable — few have built an aboveground boss, — it adds a bit to my suspicions. I really hope this boss is still in the game (and will be by the time I finish my lab), but I’m afraid it’s not. — Cordarion the Grey (talk) 03:21, 3 December 2020 (UTC)
- The "external resources" I refer to so obliquely is in this case the Erinome database. I know your Bitbucket commit history, so I'm sure you're familiar with it. 😊 Sometimes "external resources" includes the Godville Times Wayback Machine, but that's not useful for this.
- There are problems with using that database for this, of course; specifically, that to my knowledge nothing's ever been delayed, and there's no "last confirmed" data for items (at least not one which is publicly visible). The Ancient Demon is listed there as mini-quest, which doesn't mean much; it simply means that the first time it was captured by the plug-in, it was encountered at the end of a mini-quest, as many aboveground bosses are.
